ASEE has successfully delivered the largest digital transformation in the history of Banka Poštanska Štedionica – Serbia’s longest-standing bank, founded in 1921 and operating on legacy systems for over half a century.
Following the merger with MTS Banka, the project aimed to unify all operations under one modern, scalable core banking infrastructure. What followed was a 32-month-long endeavor — from May 2022 to February 2025 — that brought together over 200 ASEE professionals and hundreds more from the bank, achieving full transformation without interrupting regular banking operations.
This milestone initiative included:
A demanding implementation analysis tailored to the specific workflows of the newly unified bank
Enhancement of the Bapo core platform, and integration of the Tezauri solution suite, Experience Treasury, SEPA Direct Debit, and back-end connectors
Integration of digital channels like Adaptive Elements (with Screen-by-Screen) and Digital Origination (with live video identification)
Six full-scale migration cycles, including general rehearsal and final production migration, incorporating data export from legacy MTS systems
Over 500 days of online and onsite training, supported by audio documentation
Training and onboarding support for 2,000+ bank employees
This wasn’t just a system upgrade — it was a full-scale digital leap for a bank with deep historical roots and a unique operational footprint across Serbia, including an extensive network of branches and a strategic partnership with Pošta Srbije.
The Transformation Demanded:
Precise coordination between numerous stakeholders across ASEE and the bank
Export and validation of data from two fundamentally different legacy systems
Seamless integration with more than ten third-party systems (Posta, TIZI, HALCOM, E-Fakture, e-HUB, card processors, voice assistants, and more)
Execution of all project activities in parallel with the bank’s day-to-day operations
Critically, the success of the transformation hinged on the unwavering dedication of the bank’s project team, enthusiastic engagement of its employees, and the full support of executive management. Thanks to this synergy, the bank now runs on a future-proof, unified platform that preserves its legacy while unlocking innovation and sustainable growth.
The project was conducted under the special supervision of theNational Bank of Serbia and the Ministry of Finance, and monitored by international institutions, underscoring its national and regional significance.
With this achievement, ASEE once again demonstrates its unmatched ability to deliver complex core banking transformations on time and at scale, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in the region’s financial evolution.
Inside the Transformation: Client Perspectives
Bojan Kekić, Project Director After 20 years of working across three separate systems, bringing everything into one modern platform felt like turning a new page in the bank’s story. It was a complex journey, but thanks to teamwork and mutual trust with ASEE, we didn’t just complete a project — we built something lasting. Along the way, we formed friendships and partnerships that will carry us forward.
Aleksandar Čortan This wasn’t just about replacing a system — it was about proving that when people work together with trust and determination, big things happen. We’ve been through a lot together: detailed analyses, tough decisions, rehearsals, long nights… and now we see the results in every branch, in every employee who feels more confident, in every client who benefits from a better experience. ASEE wasn’t just a vendor — they were with us, step by step.
Ivana Milikić, Deputy Project Director Two and a half years of effort, learning, adapting, and pushing boundaries — that’s what brought us here. What stands out most is how everyone came together: IT, business, operations… We built something that’s not only technically strong, but sets us up for the future. I’m proud of our team and proud of what this means for the bank.
Dragan Novaković, Project Lead The complexity was real — different teams, different systems, different expectations. But we had a shared goal, and every challenge brought us closer. Looking back, the level of coordination andprecision we achieved still amazes me.
Aleksandra Živanović, IT Architect We weren’t just migrating data — we were merging three entire worlds into one. IBM, S&T, MTS — each had its own logic, its own challenges. The fact that we pulled it off in just three days says everything about the dedication and planning behind the scenes.
Jelena Sekulović, Deputy Head of Integration From a digital and security standpoint, this was a major leap forward. We’re now in line with EU standards and local regulations, but beyond compliance, we’ve added real value — automation, easier card management, mobile features clients actually want. This is a big win for the user experience.
Svetlana Dragojlović, Business Architect Our mission was to make modern banking feel simple — to older generations, to digital natives, to everyone. This transformation is about more than technology. It’s about creating a bank that listens, that evolves, and that’s ready to support people in every stage of their lives.
